About DCI Custom Homes
Building Homes That Belong
We build custom homes in Ouray, Ridgway, Telluride, and throughout the San Juan Mountains—working in close collaboration with architects, designers, and homeowners to deliver homes that are thoughtful, durable, and grounded in their surroundings.
Our Approach
Every project begins with understanding the site—its exposure, terrain, soil conditions, and other constraints. From there, we work alongside our clients, architects and designers to ensure the home is executed with clarity and intent.
We believe a well-built home should feel quiet and resolved. Materials should age well. Systems should perform reliably. And the construction process should be steady, transparent, and predictable.
Led by Experience
Eric Dickerson, owner of DCI Custom Homes, has been building quality custom homes in western Colorado since 1995. He began working in the construction trades in 1977 as a college student and, after graduating from Wichita State University in 1981, continued in the carpentry trades with a focus on framing and exterior finishes.
Based first in Louisville, Colorado, Eric went on to found DCI in Boulder in 1986. Eric moved business to Ridgway and started a family in the early 90s and has been building quality custom homes ever since.
Decades of hands-on experience continue to inform DCI’s approach today—grounded in practical knowledge, craftsmanship, and a clear understanding of how homes come together in the field.
In his spare time Eric loves fly-fishing, rafting, camping and spending time with his two daughters.
Working with Architects and Designers
We regularly collaborate with architects and designers and understand the importance of protecting the integrity of the design while delivering a buildable, well-executed home that fulfills homeowners dreams.
Our role is to bring clarity to construction decisions, align expectations early, and execute with a high level of detail—so the finished home reflects the original intent of the design.
Built for Mountain Conditions
Building in the San Juan Mountains requires a deep understanding of snow loads, weather exposure, access challenges, and site logistics.
We approach each project with a focus on durability, performance, and long-term resilience—ensuring homes are built not just for today, but for decades of use in demanding conditions.
